Newsletter CORPUS May 2008

Dear Sir/Madam,

Last time we told you about how things were progressing with CORPUS 'journey through the human body' we were still very busy with development and construction. We are happy to tell you that CORPUS opened its doors to the public on 20 March. Before this, the official opening ceremony was performed by Queen Beatrix on 14 March. Her Majesty was our guest for the afternoon, along with other invitees, members of the press and a whole crowd of royalty fans.

With a push on a red, Plexiglas heart, Her Majesty figuratively brought CORPUS to life, after which Her Majesty and a select few went on the 'journey through the human body.'
This was a first, because aside from a test period beforehand, no visitors had yet been in CORPUS.
Interested, Her Majesty let initiator Henri Remmers guide her past the various organs. Her Majesty experienced the miracle of birth and the working of the heart, and stood in the mouth, on the tongue.

The opening led to a flurry of detailed articles in many national newspapers. News programmes on various channels and countries as far apart as China, the United States, and Germany devoted a story to CORPUS. The Washington Post also ran a recent feature on CORPUS. You can find this and various other articles and newscasts on our website www.corpus-experience.nl

CORPUS was also featured recently in the magazine Medisch Contact.
Professor of Anatomy George Maat accompanied representatives from the magazine as they walked through the 'journey through the human body', after which they asked him what he thought of it from a medical point of view. Maat gave CORPUS a score of seven out of ten.
He thought that the guided tour was in general well thought-out and he was unable to find any anatomical errors. Of course we were happy with his assessment.

The public opening attracted a great deal of interest. Tickets for the first few days were quickly sold out via the website. Visitors who came to CORPUS without an advance booking unfortunately had to return home disappointed. The reactions of the visitors who did make the journey were positive; most people are surprised by the concept and enthusiastic about the experience.
At the moment, we are trying to make it clear in all of our public statements that visitors must reserve tickets in advance via the website. In this way, we hope to prevent disappointment at the door.

We are also pleased with the interest shown in the CORPUS Congress Centre. Interested parties have been approaching us with a range of requests varying from conferences and small meetings to company parties and even family reunions. The option of going on the journey through CORPUS seems to give real added value here. We are trying to find the most suitable arrangements for all these requests.

CORPUS' journey through the human body' will be developing further for some time to come. We will be doing our best to respond to visitors' wishes and to update things as necessary. We are keen to continue to keep you informed of all the developments in the future. You'll be hearing from us.
